Allison Moist, Guide & Storyteller

Meet Your Guide

Allison

Allison started as "Wildcat" in the YMCA Indian Princess program (now Adventure Guides), exploring outside with her dad, Bill, whose steady reminder to stay positive in the face of challenges still guides her work. Texas-born, she worked as a park ranger at Olympic National Park and spent many seasons at Capitol Reef National Park.

Alongside formal park roles, Allison guided jeep tours for multiple companies in the region and later co-founded a professional tour venture in Torrey that earned a local business award. She enjoys helping people get oriented to the area, including geology, landforms, water and weather, and how to travel the desert thoughtfully.

Today she is Program Manager at WILD (Wilderness, Individual, Leadership & Development), where she facilitates trips that blend outdoor yoga, hiking, camping, and educational discussions. She also leads night-sky interpretation, helping guests locate constellations, track seasonal changes, and hear star stories shared across cultures. Allison lives in Torrey and centers safety, dark-sky etiquette, and respect for place.
